President takes serious notice of murder in police custody
ISLAMABAD, Oct 14 (APP): President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday took serious notice of a reported incident in which a person was allegedly killed while in police custody in Dera Ghazi Khan, saying such acts would not be tolerated.The President sought report into the incident, telecast by a private television showing the brutal murder at police station.President Zardari said police are responsible for ensuring safety and security of the lives of people, and must not cross their defined limits.The video footage of March 18 showed police torturing an alleged killer Hafiz Abdullah at police station, who was caught by a mob after he killed a cloth merchant. The DSP allegedly shot dead Abdullah and handed his body to the mob that celebrated the man’s death by dragging and burning the body.Courtesy www.app.com.pk
