Govt should respect superior judiciary: Altaf
By Masroor Afzal Pasha
KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has appealed to the government and superior judiciary to respect each other and safeguard institutions.
The govt should implement all orders of the Supreme Court as it would help secure constitution, law and justice besides benefiting the nation, he said on Friday while addressing a gathering in connection with the by-election campaign of MQM’s candidate for PS-94 in Orangi Town.
“If the elite class wants to save Pakistan, then they have to choose honest and patriotic people and corruption should be eradicated from the country,” he added. Those who are dishonest will be defeated, he said. “I urged the government that it should respect judiciary so that law and justice should prevail in the country.” The govt should avoid clash between institutions, he added. Hussein appealed to the government and the judiciary to respect and protect each other. The government should comply with the directives of the apex court in the best interest of the country.
He said that Pakistan and the feudal system were opposite to each other and both could not go together. “In order to save the country, we should get rid of the feudalism.” The sane, patriotic forces should come forward in order to save the country to eliminate corruption, he said. He appealed to the residents of Orangi Town to cast their vote in favour of MQM’s candidate.
Altaf said the people of the country were facing drastic problems including skyrocketing prices, high electricity and gas tariffs, so the government should avoid any confrontation with the apex court and should rather focus on resolving public issues.
