Govt forms body to probe rumours about notification

ISLAMABAD: The government on Saturday constituted an inquiry committee on the directive of the Supreme Court to probe into the spreading of news by the media regarding withdrawal of notification/executive order about the superior judiciary.

An office order given to the to media by the Information and Broadcasting minister said, “In pursuance of para 8(ii) of the Supreme Court’s Order dated October 15, 2010 in CP No 9 of 2009 (CMA No 2981 of 2010) (copy enclosed) pertaining to the spreading of news by media alleging that the government has been considering to withdraw the notification/ executive order dated March 16, 2009 pertaining to the restoration of the chief justice and other judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and chief justices and judges of high courts, the competent authority has constituted a committee.”

The committee will comprise All Pakistan Newspapers Society President Hameed Haroon, Pakistan Broadcasters Association Secretary General Muhammad Aslam Qazi, Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists President Pervez Shaukat, Interior Ministry Joint Secretary Najibullah Khan and others.
