IGP takes serious action against police corruptionLahore: Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Tariq Saleem Dogar, taking serious notice of public complaints against the officials summoned the SP Civil Lines, SP Mujahid Squad, DSP and SHO of Gulshan Ravi in an open katchery, while ordered holding of departmental inquiries against 8 police officials including one SP on the charges of corruption and abuse of power, He issued these orders during an open katchery held at capital police office (CPO) on Monday. The IGP listened the complaints of citizens against police department and ordered the concerned police officers to ensure their quick remediation.
A complainant Shabbir Ahmad alleged that Multan SP Karamat Ullah and SHO Rana Zaheer Babar had registered fake cases against him in connivance with his opponents. Dogar ordered CPO Multan to hold an inquiry in this connection and submit him a report immediately. A women from Lahore, in her application, alleged that a staff of Police Station Bahatti was not arresting Inspector Sardar against whom she had got register a case in the police station. Taking action, the IG asked CCPO Lahore to holding departmental enquiry against the said police officials. Similarly, a citizen Umair Ashraf levelled charges against Sargodha Cantt Police Station SHO Muhammad Asif and ASI Muhammad Afzal that they had cancelled his case in connivance with the accused party. Dogar ordered departmental enquires against the police officers.
Naveed Muhammad, resident of Faisalabad, in his application levelled charges against Ghulamabad Police Station SHO Muhammad Akram for registration of fake cases against him. Taking serious notice of the complaint the IG ordered the CPO Faisalabad to submit him a report after conducting an enquiry. A resident of Lahore Sohail Nasir in his application, levelled charges against ASI Riaz for indulging in protection of the accused by not recovering the stolen goods from them.
A citizen Abdul Hameed also levelled charges against the Raiwind City Police Station investigation incharge for not arresting the accused despite taking bribe from him. The IG ordered the Sadar SP (Investigation) to arrest the accused immediately and hold an enquiry against him.
The IG while taking serious notice of the applications of three citizens immediately summed SP Civil Lines, SP Mujahid squad, DSP and SHO of Ghulshan Ravi in the open court and ordered them for solving the complaints of citizens with in couple of days. staff report
