Gilani urges unity for peace in Karachi

ISLAMABAD: Stressing the need for a united stand against elements that he termed as “public and state enemies”, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani said, “All should sit together to resolve the issue and prepare a joint strategy to defeat militant elements that are destroying the peace of Karachi”. The PM on Tuesday telephoned Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Sindh Home Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, and discussed the latest law and order situation in Karachi. Gilani said the situation called for joint efforts by all parties. He added that Karachi should remain peaceful as it was the economic hub of Pakistan. staff report
