MQM sees conspiracy behind Shershah incident

KARACHI: There was a deep-rooted conspiracy behind the killings of innocent people on such a large scale and those who hatched the conspiracy have not only been identified but incontrovertible evidence has been collected against them, said MQM’s Co-ordination Committee Deputy Convener Dr Farooq Sattar at an emergency press conference on Wednesday.
Enough eyewitness accounts are available for the government to arrest the assailant who had killed innocent people at the Shershah scrap market on Tuesday, he said adding.
“The identity of the murderers is an open secret. They have been identified and there are eye witnesses.” The Shershah Scrap Market carnage, small traders and labourers who worked on daily wages were targeted.
“MQM has been extending all possible cooperation in the past towards maintaining peace in the metropolis and has been sacrificing for it. MQM will continue to do so in future as well,” he said, adding “But notice will be taken on our reservation as stakeholders, that we had time and again informed the government regarding criminal activities in the city.”
Karachi was the lifeline of Pakistan and conspiracies are being hatched to stymie the progress of MQM, he blamed. Dr Farooq said, “MQM as a responsible political party, identified conspiracies to destabilise the peace of the city.”
