Mirza says operation only in turbulent areas

* Sindh home minister says no raids will be conducted without his permission

Staff Report

KARACHI: No major operation would be carried out in any area without any reason and law enforcement agencies would conduct raids in areas where target-killing incidents were frequent, Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza said while talking to reporters at the Mardan House after holding a meeting with ANP Sindh President Shahi Sayed on Thursday.

He said no major operation was being conducted in Karachi and actions would be taken against only those involved in criminal activities. He said no raids would be conducted in the province without his permission and the law enforcement agencies were fully prepared for any operation. Mirza clarified that the raids would be conducted in the same manner as they had been done in the past, but some people were creating a negative perception about them.

He said the accused arrested in the past had been released later, but his government would not spare anyone accused of target killings, adding that law enforcers would act as soon as they receive information on suspected miscreants. On his meeting with the ANP Sindh president, Mirza said he had been successful in pacifying the ANP regarding the party’s reservations. Speaking on the occasion, Shahi Syed hoped the people of Karachi would help arrest the criminals.
