Haqqani briefs PM on Pak team’s meeting with Obama

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Hussain Haqqani telephoned Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Thursday to apprise him of the details of the meeting of the Pakistani delegation with US President Barack Obama. The meeting, he said lasted over 50 minutes and was held in a cordial atmosphere.
Haqqani informed that Obama said that he held special sentiments for Pakistan, including special attention to the country’s defence needs. The US president specifically mentioned that he had been the first American president to visit Pakistan before becoming the president of USA.
Haqqani told the PM that Obama, while referring to his forthcoming visit to East Asia, said that he would visit Pakistan in its own right as a strategic partner.
