PAK efforts, sacrifices ensuring regional peace praised
BEIJING, Oct 25 (APP): Efforts and sacrifices rendered by Pakistan to ensure peace and stability in the region were praised at the 8th Conference of the Attorney General and Prosecutor Generals of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).A three-member delegation led by Attorney General of Pakistan Maulvi Anwar-ul-Haq attended the moot held in Xiamen city , south China’s Fuijian Province from October 22-23, said AG Maulvi Anwarul Haq while talking to APP here before leaving for Pakistan.Other two members of Pakistan’s delegation included Syed Zahid Hussain Bukhari, the Prosecutor General of Punjab and Sher Badhadar, Legal Advisor of Foreign Office.
The conference, AG Haq said which was attended by all member countries and observers of SCO provided a good opportunity to discuss ways to bolster ties.
A senior officer and member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Mr Zhou Yongkang in his opening remarks on Friday called upon the member countries of SCO to strengthen cooperation to ensure regional peace and stability.
The AG of Pakistan said that while representing Pakistan, he also read a paper on the subject on his countries efforts in ensuring peace and stability in the region, which were praised by the participants.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Cao Jianming, the Procurator-General of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of China. More than 100 delegates attended the meeting.
AG Haq said that he had bilateral talks on the fringes of the meeting with Mr. Cao and other delegates who attended the conference.
The Iranian Prosecutor General Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, while meeting with AG Haq expressed sympathy for millions of flood-affected Pakistanis.
Anwar-ul-Haq while expressing thanks for the assistance provided by Iran for flood affectees also mentioned that Pakistan is interested in expanding judicial collaboration with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He said that Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei described the flood disaster in Pakistan as the “most urgent” issue of the Islamic world and in his address on Eid day urged the Iranian people to come
forward and provide all out assistance for their Pakistani brethren in this hours of need.
