Minimum credible deterrence to be maintained at all costs: PM
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that despite economic constraints, the government would not ignore the defence requirements of the country and every possible step would be taken to maintain the level of minimum credible deterrence. He lauded the professional preparation of the armed forces of Pakistan. Gilani was talking to the Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Khalid Shamim Wyne who called on him at PM’s House on Monday. Wyne briefed Gilani about his recent visit to South Korea and his participation in the Chiefs of Defence (CHoD) Conference. He apprised him of his meetings with the military leadership of the participating countries. He also informed him about the professional matters relating to the three armed forces of Pakistan. Gilani also congratulated Wyne on his selection for conferment of Sitara Imtiaz (military) as an acknowledgement of his meritorious services for the Pakistan army. The overall security situation of the country was also discussed during the meeting. staff report
