Sustainable Pak-Afghan ties needed: TaseerLAHORE: Pakistan and Afghanistan should have healthy and sustainable relations based on mutual understanding, Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer said on Friday.
Talking to an Afghan media delegation at the Governor’s House, Taseer said both countries needed to constitute such a policy, which would be in the interest of both nations. The governor said the government had launched various welfare-oriented programmes to provide financial assistance to the poor and curtail unemployment in the country. During the strategic dialogue with US, he said, Pakistan emphasised for consolidating relations with Afghanistan. Afghan media delegation thanked the governor for their warm reception at the Governor’s House and said Pakistani media was vibrant and co-operative. staff report
