ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik warned public departments to improve within a week and put an end to the corruption, adding government is determined to take strict action against corruption-plagued departments after November 7, Geo News reported Sunday.
“Any office be it of Wapda, FIA, Passport Immigration, Nadra or CDA or wherever it is responsible for public dealing, the corrupt officers of these offices should mend their ways. After 7th, our covert action will start, we will have zero tolerance and the government will take action against corruption terrorism,” said Malik presiding over a meeting at the headquarters of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
Minister put great stress on media to help government to eradicate corruption from the society saying that he knew the scale of the menace.
The minister directed the agency to adopt zero-tolerance policy regarding criminal activities, saying that the process of accountability will be started from FIA.
The Federal Minister vowed to take strict steps against human traffickers and illegal arms licenses adding the staff deployed on checkpoints from where people were illegally leaving the country will also be thoroughly checked.
He also announced that the women’s quota has been raised to 25 per cent in the FIA and stated that employees’ salaries will now match those of the Motorway Police force.
Talking to the media at the FIA headquarters, the interior minister said special teams will be set up that will keep a check on SMS-based manoeuvring of the stock exchange.
No employee would be harassed and anti-corruption action would be exclusively focused, the federal minister said urging the heads of the departments to expel the employees against whom there are complaints.
He said that action will be taken against extortionists and a special helpline will be established in this regard, adding he appealed to people to help government against these mafias and inform the FIA about them.
The inquiry has been ordered against at least 90,000 Afghan and other illegal immigrants, who were issued identity cards.
