US lawmaker for legal status to Pak immigrants

HOUSTON: American Congressman Algreen has said that he would strive for getting legal status to the illegal Pakistani immigrants in America as was granted to the earthquake affectees of Haiti. In this regard he was considering a suggestion upon which the work would soon begin.

He announced this while addressing the traders, and prominent persons of the Pakistan community at the residence of famous businessman Syed Rashid Bukhari at Houston, Texas.

He said that he would always serve for the welfare of the Pakistani community. He promised to take this suggestion seriously that was handed over to him by Syed Rashid Bukhari.
It should be noted that following the recent earthquake in Haiti, all the illegal immigrants from Haiti were given legal status in the United States. This was done on the humanitarian grounds.

As such, since the floods in Pakistan have also wrought havoc on a colossal scale, a similar bill should also be introduced in the Congress for legalizing the relatives residing illegally, in United States of the flood-affected people.

On this occasion, Algreen lauded the services of the GEO News and the Jang Group of publications which was keeping the Pakistanis around the world and particularly in America informed about the affairs of Pakistan. Besides, it was the most favorite channel of Pakistanis living in United States.

Through the GEO News he appealed to the Pakistani community to take part in a big way in the mid-term elections by casting their vote.

It should be noted that Algreen has been elected as the Congressman from the Houston constituency several times before. He stands a bright chance even this time to win.

On this occasion, the president of Pakistan Association of Greater Houston Khalid Khan, and former president of Pakistan American chamber of Commerce Saeed Sheikh, and other community leaders and eminent businessmen from Pakistani community Ghulam Bombywala, Yasmeen siddique, Dr Saeed Ahmed were present.
