Pakistan, India agree to tone down border show
* Both parties agree to make joint efforts against smuggling

LAHORE: Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) have announced to beef-up efforts to control cross border crimes, reduce hostile gestures towards each others soldiers during flag hoisting ceremonies and to ensure peace at borders of both the countries.
The aforementioned agenda was brought under discussion during four-day long bi-annual meeting between Pakistan Rangers and BSF. A joint press briefing was held by Punjab Rangers Director General Major General Muhammad Yaqub Khan and BSF Director General Shri Raman Srivastav at Rangers Headquarters on Saturday.
Addressing the press conference, Rangers DG Major General Yaqub Khan said that different issues pertaining to border security forces were discussed in the bi-annual meeting between BSF and Rangers.
“The issues which were brought under discussion included unprovoked firing at working boundary from Indian BSF side, stoppage of inadvertent border crossing, killing of innocent people on border, illegal constructions of defencive buildings by the Indian BSF, violation of airspace limits by Indian helicopters and spying jets, illegal border crossing and stoppage of smuggling, timely release and repatriation of prisoners in both countries,” Yaqub Khan said.
Yaqub Khan told the media that the vulnerable border areas had been identified from where extensive smuggling of wine from India was noticed. The list of vulnerable areas had been provided to the Indian BSF DG for proper action. Both forces also agreed that smuggling is a two-way crime and it could be eliminated by taking action from both sides.
