MQM to file adjournment motion against oil price hike
Staff Report
KARACHI: The Coordination Committee of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has vehemently criticised the increase in the POL prices and called for emergency steps by the government to give relief to the people in the prices.
The committee said in a statement on Saturday that increasing the petrol price by Rs 4.15 and the diesel price by Rs 1.15 would add to the woes of the common people. The committee termed the increase in the prices as injudicious it would bring in its fold a strong wave of inflation that would break the back of common people. The MQM decided to submit an adjournment motion in the National Assembly on Monday in order to discuss the oppressive increase in the POL prices. This decision has been taken in view of strong protests from the public. The committee demanded of President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani to review the policy of the constant increase in the POL prices and take steps for providing relief to the people.
