PM convenes energy roundtable


SIALKOT: Federal Minister for Information Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Sunday that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani had called an energy conference to evolve strategy to cope with energy crisis.

Addressing a public gathering here at Jhang Mor, Dr Firdous said that all the chief ministers and representatives of authorities concerned would attend the conference which would devise a strategy for ending power loadshedding. The participants of conference would deliberate on alternative energy solutions and setting up priorities in that regard, she added.

The minister said that the masses had reposed trust in the Pakistan People's Party, which had contributed a lot for the country's welfare. She said that the participation of a huge number of people in the Prime Minister's rally in Southern Punjab was evident of the fact that the people had great confidence in the PPP-led government.

Dr Firdous said that the provinces should play their due role and help the Centre in its efforts to overcome the energy crisis.

She said Pakistan was facing the challenges of extremism and terrorism, adding that the political leadership, national security institutions, media and people would continue their sincere efforts to tackle internal and external threats. (APP)
