Fasih Bukhari calls on PM

ISLAMABAD: Former Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral (retd) Fasih Bukhari met with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Monday, Geo News reported.

Bukhari has been nominated by President Asif Ali Zardari as the new chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

This coveted slot had remained vacant, following removal of Justice (retd) Deedar Hussain Shah from NAB chairmanship by the Supreme Court.

President’s spokesman said yesterday that the President has sent letters to the prime minister and the leader of the opposition relating to the appointment of the former Navy chief, Fasih Bukhari as NAB Chairman.

Admiral Fasih Bukhari in his meeting with the PM exchanged views on his expected responsibilities.

It may be recalled that the Supreme Court had ordered for the appointment of NAB Chairman without any further delay and the time allowed for this had expired about three months ago.
