Privilege motion against Dr Tahir in PA

LAHORE: Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) have jointly submitted a privilege motion against Unification Bloc parliamentary leader Dr Tahir Ali Javed in the Punjab Assembly, Geo News reported.

Dr Tahir on Sunday came up with the idea of dissolving the assembly and said the PML-N needed to take bold and aggressive steps to bar the PPP from gaining a majority in the upcoming Senate election.

The motion carries signature of 108 PPP lawmakers and 29 Q-League members. Dr Tahir's proposal to dissolve the assembly is unconstitutional and undemocratic, the motion said.

PML-Q MPA Seemal Kamran noted that Unification Bloc leader has violated the constitution and the demand has breached her mandate. She sought the permission to present it in the parliament.

PPP Deputy Parliamentary Leader Shaukat Mehmood Basra while talking to media said the statement is a part of conspiracy and dissolution of the assembly to block Senate poll is violation of constitution and treachery. Basra also sought suo moto notice by the Chief Justice of Pakistan into it.
