PML-Q, PML-F agree to hand over three ministries to MQM

KARACHI: The timely intervention of President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday overcome a strain that developed in the relationship between PPP and PML-F over taking back of some ministries from PML-F ministers from Sindh cabinet.

Sources told Daily Times that President Zardari telephoned PML-F chief Pir Pagara to salvage the situation that arose over the issue of taking back ministries that were earlier given to MQM. PML-Q and the PML-F have agreed to hand over its three ministries to MQM.

Sindh’s coalition came under pressure when MQM rejoined the provincial government and as five of the ministries were handed back to them immediately.

The PML-F leaders refused to give up the ministries allotted to them after the MQM quit the government and suggested that the government should allot other departments to the MQM.

MQM given back ministries including Health, Bureau of Supply & Prices Control, Industries, Human Rights, Public health & Engineering, while Sports, Environment, Rural Development remained with the PML-Q and Auqaf, Youth Affairs and Information Technology with PML-F.
