Body set up to look into reasons behind power crisis
ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza has constituted a 17-member special committee to look into the reasons leading to the current power crisis in the country and propose steps to alleviate the power shortage. The National Assembly Secretariat has issued notification to this effect on Friday. The special committee has been constituted in pursuance of motion under Rule 244 (B) of the rules of procedure and conduct of business in the National Assembly, 2007 adopted by the House on October 10.
The committee comprises of MNAs Rana Muhammad Farooq Saeed Khan of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Nawab Muhammad Yousaf Talpur (PPP), Khurrum Jehangir Wattoo (PPP), Dr Ayatullah Durrani (PPP), Shahid Khan Abbasi of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Rana Tanvir Hussain (PML-N), Muhammad Balighur Rehman (PML-N), Rana Asif Tauseef (PML-Q), Sheikh Waqas Akram (PML-Q), Dr Muhammad Farooq Sattar (Muttahida Qaumi Movement), Bushra Gohar (Awami National Party), Hameedullah Jan Afridi (Federally Administered Tribal Areas), Engineer Usman Khan Tarakai (Independent), Muhammad Jadam Mangrio (PML-F), Mufti Ajmal Khan (JUI-F), Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao (PPP-Sherpao) and Saima Akthar Bharwana (Independent). staff report
