MQM to join army to foil external conspiracies: Altaf

* MQM chief says conspiracy is also being hatched to get assemblies dissolved and go for snap polls to defeat MQM

LONDON: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain, on Sunday, said that Pakistan was beset with external threats but MQM would protect the country from every harm by joining the armed forces and foiling these conspiracies.

Altaf, in his telephonic address to the MQM office bearers and workers from Lahore zone on Sunday, said a conspiracy was also being hatched to get the assemblies dissolved and go for snap polls to inflict a defeat on MQM.

“But MQM will contest the next elections from across the country,” he vowed.

He assured his party workers that the day was not far off when Punjab would witness a revolution that would transform big houses of feudal lords and capitalists into schools for boys and girls.

“Just when the philosophy of MQM began to gain ground in Punjab, an antagonistic drive was launched to project me and the MQM as an enemy of the state,” he alleged.

Altaf said that his political opponents were out to damage his image and present him as anti-Pakistan, saying through these attempts they would not succeed in damaging MQM’s popularity.

Altaf said that he was arrested during a peaceful rally and a military dictator framed fake charges against him and conveyed an impression to the nation as if he had violated the sanctity of the national flag.

He said contrary to propaganda of the opponents, the MQM had always sacrificed for upholding the national flag. He said a daughter of the nation, Ayesha Ahad, was being threatened during the government of Khadim-e-Aala and a conspiracy was being hatched to dissolve the Punjab Assembly.

He regretted that media did not play its role in the case of Ayesha Ahad.

He said MQM would contest elections from every nook and corner of the country, including Punjab and if he were alive, he would land in Lahore on return home. Without naming Zulfiqar Mirza, Altaf said he was indulging in blasphemy and the participants raised slogans against him.

He asked ulema to take notice of blasphemy and appealed to the chief justice to take notice of the statements of the person.

Altaf Hussain said that All Pakistan Mohajir Students Organisation (APMSO) was banned in educational institutions. The MQM chief deplored that while Jalianwala Bagh massacre was remembered even today, no one cared for the massacre of people in Qasba Colony, Karachi.

He said MQM was charged with extortions, target killings and ethnic violence, which, he said, was absurd.. Altaf said even today MQM was blamed for May 12 incident and responsibility of bad law and order situation was placed on his party.

He said in Punjab kidnappings, murders and robberies took place every day. He said there were certain districts in southern Punjab where it was impossible for a single person to travel at night.

He said in Lyari, gangs committed all sorts of crimes against the Urdu-speaking people. He said there was no leader in the country like him who earned his livelihood through Rehris and tuition.

He asked MQM leaders and workers to donate blood for the dengue patients and present them with bouquets.

Referring to national security, MQM leader appealed for national unity, saying the United States was out to cause damage to Pakistan.

He said that MQM workers would sacrifice their lives but no one would be allowed to cause any harm to the country.

He said that MQM was behind Pakistan’s armed forces and said by the grace of Allah (The Almighty) no intelligence agency could level any allegation against him. inp
