PPP finalises plan to observe Karsaz tragedy anniversary

KARACHI: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Karachi Division has finalised various programmes to mark the 4th anniversary of Karsaz twin blasts incident, on Oct 18 to pay homage to the party activists, who embraced martyrdom.

The leaders of PPP Karachi Division met with its president Syed Najmi Alam in the chair at People’s Secretariat, here on Sunday. The meeting discussed the arrangements to mark the 4th anniversary of Karsaz tragedy. The Karsaz incident had occurred on Oct 18, 2007, when two blasts hit the welcoming rally of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto near Karsaz. According to PPP, 275 party workers had lost their lives while over 600 got wounded. The meeting decided that the party leaders would visit the residences of martyrs of Karsaz twin blasts and would also visit their graves.

The participants of the meeting were informed that PPP leaders, workers and supporter would also gather at Yadgar-e-Shuhada Karsaz, a memento built in memories of the martyrs of Karsaz blasts, at 05:00pm. It was also said that a reception camp has been set up at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada Karsaz, where a documentary film about the homecoming rally of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto on October 18, 2007, would be played on a giant multi-media screen. app
