Mother of Democracy glorified in Dallas

DALLAS, Texas: Pakistan People’s Party North Texas Chapter hosted a memorial service and fateha khwani in memory of mother of democracy Begum Nusrat Bhutto.
A number of Pakistan People’s party supporters, civic leaders and local leadership of PTI and MQM also attended the meeting. Mohammad Imtiaz Jan recited the wholly Quran to commence the service.
PPP USA President Dr. Shafqat Tanveer while addressing the gathering via telephone said that mother of democracy Begum Nusrat Bhutto had devoted her entire life for the cause of democracy and for Pakistan.
The democracy we see in Pakistan these days is result of her struggle. PPP North Texas President Zahid Khanzada in his address said that not only she nurtured her own children but all of the party workers during the dark days of dictatorship, which was an exemplary role of a mother she played in those days.
Senior Vice President of PPP North Texas Syed Fayyaz Hassan speaking at this occasion said that Begum Nusrat Bhutto suffered enormous amount of pain during General Zia’s regime, but never surrendered to the dictator, instead she transformed her pain into power and gave courage to party workers.

said that Begum Nusrat Bhutto was not only a political icon but was also a symbol of courage, sacrifice and steadfastness, who gave up everything for the cause of democracy.
PPP North Texas general Secretary Akramah Khan said the loss of Begum Nusrat Bhutto is a big loss for pro-democracy and progressive forces in Pakistan.
PPP North Texas treasurer Sardar Zahoor Ahmed while addressing the gathering talked about his proud service at the initial stages of Peoples party where he served as personal bodyguard of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
University of North Texas Professor Dr. Qaiser Abbas talked about importance of the slogan of socialism, which can relate to the current day movement against capitalistic setup, which started in US and now spread over a number of countries. He further added that PPP is the only party where leaders also give sacrifices with workers.
Pakistani Ismailia community leader Ameer Makhani said that we can never talk enough of Begum Bhutto’s sacrifices and I pray for more courage’s women like her.
The event was also addressed by renowned community leader Khalique Qureshi, senior journalist Saeed Qureshi, and Kashmiri community leader Raja Muzaffar Kashmiri, Dr. Ghulam Nabi, MQM leaders Mughni Raza, PTI Dallas President Nadeem Zaman and other civic and community activists.
Famous poet of US Syed Younus Aijaz recited his new poem on this occasion. The memorial service was observed with a candle vigil and all participants signed a card with comments. This card will be presented to PPP Co Chairman President Asif Ali Zardari. Mr. Ameer Makhani sponsored a niaz dinner for all the participants.
