Imran lacks direction: PPP, PML-N

ISLAMABAD: The PPP and PML-N on Sunday termed the PTI Chief Imran Khan’s address in Lahore as mess of contradictions and vague language. PPP’s Central Information Secretary Qamar Zaman Kaira talking to Daily Times, though termed the PTI’s show impressive one, however pointed out that the way Khan spoke was very vague having no clarity as what he really meant to do. On the threat of launching civil disobedience in country, Kaira said that it makes no sense in a country where the democratic institutions are functioning independently with an independent judiciary discharging its functions. He believed that Imran Khan’s speech lacked the direction especially there was no concrete solution on the agenda Khan announced to steer the country out of the crisis. He ruled out any threat to PPP from Imran Khan when asked whether PPP is feeling threat from the growing popularity of Imran Khan especially the massive public show in Lahore. On declaration of assets, Kaira said that everyone contesting the elections have to declare its assets and it seemed weird that Khan didn’t know about that such provision in the laws already exist. PPP’s Central Leader also considered the criticism of Imran Khan on President Asif Zardari in a different way and felt that only big leaders come under criticism and Khan’s remarks also implies that fact about Asif Zardari. PML-N, believed to be feeling the pinch of Khan’s increasing support in Punjab especially in its power base Lahore saying that it is still to be known that whether it was a public meeting or a musical concert. Khawja Saad Rafiq said that PPP, MQM and PTI have become united against PML-N and urged Khan to start the campaign against government immediately instead of giving months’ time to government. He pointed out that even Khan is ignorant about the history of Lahore, whose history is marked sacrifices. He even questioned how Khan could bring change by taking the turncoats in his party who have changed loyalties in past. staff report
