Sindh, Punjab & Balochistan made law for LB polls: Secretary ECP
ISLAMABAD: Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Ishtiaque Ahmed Khan has said that Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan provinces have introduced law for local bodies elections, Geo News reported.
Talking to media here Thursday, ECP Secretary said all the provinces wanted LB bodies poll at the earliest.
Ishtiaque Ahmed said the provinces would formally request ECP for holding polls in the first week of December. He said the commission will issue the election schedule 30 days after it received the plea.
He said the request would be made by all the provinces and the interior ministry.
He said 600 million ballot papers would be printed for the LB elections.
The Secretary said it was responsibility of the ECP to conduct local bodies elections. Committees at national and provincial level have been constituted to monitor all issues and for pilot project at district level, he said and added that these will apprise the ECP in the next meeting.
