Nation will support operation if it is last resort: Imran

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, Imran Khan said Thursday that the entire nation would support an operation against the Pakistani Taliban if it was the last resort.

During a news conference here, Khan said if talks failed an operation should be approached with extreme caution. “Prior to the launch of an operation, talks should be given an honest shot to succeed,” Khan said.

Khan mentioned that during the All Parties Conference (APC) it was decided that the issue of US drone strikes would be raised at the United Nations (UN) but since then four drone strikes had taken place in Pakistan’s tribal areas.

The PTI chairman added that it would be difficult for industries to operate if the price of gas was raised. According to Khan, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was strictly opposed to an increase in the gas price.

Commenting on the appointment of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman, Khan said the PTI had not been consulted.
