Went to IMF to avert default: Iqbal

LAHORE: Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal Tuesday said that the loan from International Monetary Fund (IMF) was procured to ensure Pakistan does run into a default.

Talking to media persons after attending a ceremony here, Ahsan Iqbal criticized the previous government for its spending trends, saying, ‘the last government ate, drank and left, putting us in difficult position’.

He vowed that the government of Pakistan Muslim League-N will never make any compromise on corruption.

He termed terrorism as a ‘production’ of martial laws. “Pakistanis are a peace-loving nation,” he added.

Ahsan Iqbal said that the country’s economy cannot be supported by bringing back a one person’s wealth from the Swiss Banks.
