‘Rigging’ in NA 249: tribunal seeks reply from Farooq Sattar

KARACHI: The election tribunal on Saturday issued a notice to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Farooq Sattar over alleged rigging in NA-249 and ordered him to submit reply until October 24.

The Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) contestant from NA-249, Abdul Aziz Memon, had submitted an application in the election tribunal, formed to deal with election complaints.

He said that elections in the constituency had been rigged and fake votes were polled. The tribunal, while rejecting election results of the constituency, also rejected victory notification of Dr Farooq Sattar and asked him to submit his reply until October 24.

In other proceedings, the tribunal adjourned the hearings of pleas of MQM candidates Iqbal Muhammad Ali and Waqar Hussain Shah against National Data Base and Registration Authority’s report (NADRA) on NA-256 and PS-128, until October 26. The tribunal also extended time for filing objections over the NADRA report. agencies
