Nawaz gets a special assistant, an advisorISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Sunday appointed Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh as his special assistant and Ameer Bux Bhutto as his adviser, a move believed to have more representation in his cabinet from smaller provinces.
Both of them hail from Sindh and were appointed as special assistant and adviser, equivalent to the status of state minister and federal minister, respectively, a notification of the Cabinet Division said. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s cabinet is largely restricted to Punjab with very few faces from the three provinces. However, taking the special assistant and adviser from Sindh has broadened the base of the cabinet.
Imtiaz Sheikh belongs to the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and Ameer Bux Bhutto, the son of Mumtaz Bhutto, is from PML-N. The notification stated that the appointment of Imtiaz Shiekh as special assistant to prime minister was made in terms of rule 4 (6) of the Rules of Business, 1973 read with serial number 1A of Schedule-V-A of the said Rules. President Mamnoon Hussain, on the advice of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Sunday appointed Ameer Bux Bhutto as adviser to the prime minister in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 93 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
