Power tariff hiked under compulsion: PM

RAIWIND: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Wednesday said the power tariff had to be raised under compulsions and pledged to reduce the tariffs with the completion of new electricity projects, Geo News reported.

Following Eid prayers, addressing party workers here, the prime minister said that the previous governments' didn't take any step for tackling terrorism and extremism adding that he wanted a durable solution of the problems facing the country.

Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif said that efforts beyond party considerations are afoot for the restoration of peace in Karachi and the people in the city are satisfied with the actions of the government. He said that a significant reduction in crimes and extortion cases has been recorded in Karachi and a beginning has been made for making laws more effective in a bid to control terrorism and lawlessness. He vowed to take some hard decisions for the restoration of peace in the country.

The prime minister said that Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) has assumed power in a highly difficult situation in the country and working day-and-night for the prosperity of the country.
