PM, president urge nation to unite against militants, terrorists
ISLAMABAD: Wishing the nation a happy Eid-ul-Azha, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and President Mamnoon Hussain on Tuesday urged the nation and the entire political leadership to sink their differences and join forces in the fight against militants and terrorists.
In their Eid messages to the nation, the two leaders said: “This great day demands of us that we adopt sacrifice, benevolence and brotherhood as our national character and help establish such a tolerant and harmonious society where its members are able to perform their duties in peace and tranquility.”
“Eid-ul-Azha reminds us of the great sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) by which he established such an everlasting example of submission to the will of God that the Muslims will be observing it as a sacred Sunnah till the Day of Judgment.”
They said Eid-ul-Azha was the manifestation of submission to the will of Allah in the footprints of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and bowing before Him as the Greatest of all.
“By observing this day, we pledge that we will prefer the commands of Allah Almighty to our dearest and nearest belongings and will not hesitate from rendering any sacrifice in order to please Him.”
“Today we should take a special care of the poor widows and destitute orphans and should generously help all deprived people so that they may also celebrate Eid and are able to thank God for His bounties.”
They said the best way to combat the challenges of extremism, sectarianism and terrorism was that we should follow the commandments of Allah Almighty and his last messenger Muhammad (PBUH).
“We should promote the values of compassion, unity and brotherhood among ourselves and dedicate all our energies to the prosperity and well being of the country.
“This mannerism will not only lead us to success in this world, but will also make us triumphant in the eternal world. This should be the ultimate aim and objective of our life,” they maintained.
