Nawaz Sharif for following spirit of sacrifice, adopting unified thinking

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has stressed the need for following the spirit of sacrifice in its true perspective and adopting a unified thinking as a nation to tackle the various challenges being faced by the country.

The prime minister, in his message, congratulated the nation on the occasion of Eidul Azha and highlighted various aspects of the spirit of submission and sacrifice, the foundation of which was laid by Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) on the edict of God.

“There has always been a need to act on the great spirit like submission and sacrifice for the Muslim Ummah in general and for the Pakistanis in particular, but keeping in view the current state of affairs in the country, its importance has increased,” he maintained.

Following is the rendering of the prime minister’s message:

“On the occasion of Eidul Azha, I wholeheartedly congratulate all the fellow countrymen and pray to Allah Almighty to bless all of you with His bounties in this world and the hereafter. Eidul Azha is an important festival in the Islamic world. For the Muslims, this day presents the ideal of highest commitment, sacrifice and character and renews the memory of that great sacrifice, which Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) on the edict of Allah Almighty established through the act of presenting his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (AS) in the name of Allah, and which was declared by Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) as an essential religious practice for the Muslim Ummah till the Day of Judgment. Our Islamic faith is a religion of tranquillity and welfare, which declares as ‘Haram’ every kind of cruelty. We, at every moment, should not hesitate from rendering any sacrifice for the promotion of our real values and true traditions in the light of Islamic teachings, because our development and prosperity in every way including religious and worldly, material and spiritual, moral and economical and social and political lies in the spirit of submission and sacrifice. There has always been a need to act on the great spirit like submission and sacrifice for the Muslim Ummah in general and for the Pakistanis in particular, but keeping in view the current state of affairs in the country, its importance has increased more. The prevailing critical situation in the country requires us to adopt a thinking, which is above the personal, sectarian and grouping interests as well as the extremist attitudes. By keeping our spirit of submission and sacrifice on the right objective, we should turn it towards the delight and betterment of country and nation as well as the Muslim Ummah. Remember, this practice is also important aspect of the mannerism of our Holy Prophet (PBUH). I pray to Allah Almighty to bless all of us with the true happiness of Eidul Azha and grant us with the sense of understanding for the great religious act of sacrifice in its true perspective. Ameen.” app
