PM leaves for US to discuss bilateral, regional ties

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Saturday left for the United States on an official visit.

In a statement before departure for the US visit, the Prime Minister said he would discuss enhancing bilateral trade and investment ties and regional matters during meetings with the American authorities.

He said Pakistan attached great importance to its ties with the United States.

The regional situation including Afghanistan would also be discussed with the US authorities, he said.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said economic stability was prerequisite for country's sovereignty.

He said democracy was strength of Pakistan and added that the government was taking all possible measures to ensure security of the people.
