Pak-US ties stand improved, PM will raise drone issue: President
KARACHI: President Mamnoon Hussain on Sunday said that Pak-US ties have improved and the prime minister during his US visit would raise the drone issue, Geo News reported.
After paying homage at the mausoleum of the Quaid-e-Azam, talking to media here, the president said that any progress in the country without peace in Karachi was not possible and everyone has to play his role for restoring peace in this hub of trade and industry.
Mamnoon Hussain said that the inflation plaguing this country has several reasons such as the ailing economy and printing of currency notes. He said that the government had pledged to International Monetary Fund (IMF) to raise the power tariff. He said that the people have to wait for some time for any reduction in power tariffs and added that the economy has to be improved for getting rid of the bites of inflation.
He said that the president’s basic responsibility was to maintain harmony between the federation and the provinces, adding the president has no political role.
The president said that our ties with the US got strained for sometime in the past, which have now improved considerably. He said our trade ties with the US were of crucial importance.
Mamnoon Hussain said, “Karachi is not a London colony, Pakistan is an independent state, everyone has to put aside the negative mindset and join hands to make Karachi the city of lights again.”
