SC rejects Jatoi’s plea to transfer his case from ATC

KARACHI: The Supreme Court Monday rejected an application filed by Shahrukh Jatoi, the main person convicted in the Shahzeb Khan’s murder case, seeking transfer of the case from an anti-terrorism court (ATC) to a district and sessions court.

Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani upheld the decision of the SHC, which had dismissed the petition of Jatoi challenging jurisdiction of the ATC to conduct the trial.

Earlier, Shahrukh Jatoi, Nawab Siraj Ali Talpur, his younger brother Nawab Sajjad Ali Talpur and their house servant Ghulam Murtaza Lashari had been charged and convicted for the murder of 20-year-old Shahzeb in DHA on the night of Dec 24, 2012.

Jatoi’s family had submitted an appeal seeking transfer of the case from the ATC to a sessions court; however, it was rejected today.

The parents and two sisters of Shahzeb Khan approached the SHC in September to seek acquittal of the convicts after pardoning them “in the name of Allah”. agencies
