Ceasefire between warring groups in Lyari

KARACHI: Warring groups in Lyari agreed to a ceasefire, while the police and Rangers’ joint operation continued on Sunday, Geo News reported.

At least twenty persons were killed during the last two days of fierce battles between two rival groups in Lyari, when heavy arms, hand grenades, crackers and rockets were used to target each other.

Sources said amid raining bullets and hurling hand grenades, the police and Rangers launching a joint operation cordoned off the area and blocked all exit/entry roads to Chakiwara, Singu Lane, Phool Patti Lane, Bihar Colony, Cheel Chowk, Dubai Chowk, Al falah Road and other adjoining areas and subsequently raiding the criminal dens arrested several persons thus far.

Sources further said that the two groups involved in the gang war have agreed to a ceasefire and have entered into a dialogue for thrashing out an accord.
