MQM alleges Rangers using extra-judicial means

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) accused Pakistan Rangers, Sindh for the extra judicial killing of party worker, Dilshad Ahmed Khan; however, Rangers rejected allegations of torture and termed it absurd.
MQM’s coordination committee member Haider Abbas Rizvi while addressing a press conference at Khursheed Begum Secretariat Karachi on Sunday, condemning the behavior of law enforcement agencies and said that the security agencies were carrying out unlawful arrests and subjecting party workers to torture during custody.
Rizvi said Khan, a former chief of the MQM’s Burns Road unit was arrested by Rangers on October 23 from Pakistan Chowk. “Dilshad was brutally tortured during custody and later handed over to his family on October 25 in an unconscious state,” Rizvi claimed, adding that the victim was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK). “Dilshad was shifted to CHK, and later to a private hospital where he died,” Rizvi said. As per the doctors, quoted Rizvi, the victim received injuries in his head and was put on a ventilator; both his legs were broken and his body bore visible torture marks. staff report
