They held separate seminars and protest demonstrations demanding international forces to force India to give Kashmiris a right of self-determination.
The ‘Black Day’ was aimed to convey international community that the Kashmiris had rejected illegal occupation by India on Jammu and Kashmir that was Muslim majority area since the time when Indian troops occupied the area forcefully on October 27, in 1947.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) chapter organised a special seminar at the residence of its leader Diwan Ghulam Mohaud at Shah Jamal colony wherein leaders of different political parties’ including Rana Shehzad of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, Fareed Paracha of Jammat Islami, Mirza Sadiq Jalal of Muslim Conference also participated. While the PPP Kashmiri leaders including Farooq Azad, Dr Ahsan and Afnan Butt also spoke on the occasion.
All the Kashmiri leaders unanimously demanded the government that it should enhance its efforts for the cause of Kashmiris. They also requested all the human rights organisations of the world and international community to stop India for violating the rights of Kashmiri people.
Addressing the ceremony, the political leaders said the black day was not against the people of India but against the atrocities and New Delhi’s refusal to give them right of self-determination. They said that Indian troops invaded Jammu and Kashmir and occupied it in total violation of the partition plan of the subcontinent and against the aspirations of the Kashmiri people on October 27, 1947.
