Kayani meets Chinese leadersRAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani held separate meetings with Chinese Vice Chairman Central Military Commission General Fan Changlong and State Councillor and Minister for Ministry of Public Security Guo Shengkun.

COAS reiterated goodwill of the government and people of Pakistan and thanked Chinese leadership for China’s eternal support to Pakistan. Security situation in the region and the possible role both countries can play towards strategic stability was also discussed during the meetings. Talks also encompassed the measures to boost mutual cooperation on a wide range of issues. The COAS was also the guest of honour earlier in the day, on a banquet hosted by Executive Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Zhang Yesui and later in the evening in the banquet hosted by Peoples Liberation Army Deputy Chief of General Staff General Hou Shusen.
Kayani left for Beijing on Monday on a four-day official visit at the invitation of Chinese authorities. During the visit, the COAS will call on China’s political and military leadership. According to an ISPR press release, the interaction will encompass Pak-China relations with particular emphasis on defence and security cooperation. app
