Younger Hoti jumps in to save WaliPESHAWAR: Former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister and MNA Amir Haider Khan Hoti on Tuesday termed the allegations levelled by his father Senator Azam Khan Hoti against the Awami National Party (ANP) leadership as totally baseless and unfounded.
Addressing a press conference, Amir Haider Khan Hoti said all the allegations levelled by his father against the party leadership and his maternal uncle Asfandyar Wali Khan were baseless and unjustified. He said political differences had developed between his father and maternal uncle over a personal and purely domestic issue, and the issue is being politicised. He said levelling of allegations against the ANP leadership was not a new phenomenon, saying the party had bravely faced such assertions both in democratic and dictatorial regimes in the past.
The former chief minister said the party, not an individual, takes decisions. Hoti was accompanied by Senator Afrasaib Khan Khattak, former information minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain, ANP parliamentary leader in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Sardar Hussain Babak and other stalwarts of the party. On Monday, former senior leader of the Awami National Party Senator Azam Khan Hoti had made serious allegations against party president, Senator Asfandyar Wali Khan, holding him responsible for the killing of about 800 ANP workers and poor performance of the party in this year’s general elections.
Senator Azam Hoti had on Monday alleged that ANP leaders Asfandyar Wali Khan and Senator Afrasiab Khattak had struck a “secret deal” with the United State for $35 million. “Both the leaders have sold out the party,” Senator Hoti, who was last month expelled from the ANP on “disciplinary grounds”, told a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club. He alleged that the two ANP leaders had struck a “deal over the Pakhtun nation”. As a result of deal, Asfandyar received a payment of $35 million, Azam alleged. Agencies
