Talk process with Taliban has started: Nisar
ISLAMABAD: Chauhdry Nisar Ali Khan has told parliamentary leaders of political parties that talk process with the Taliban militants has started and he would soon take them on board over the negotiations.The opposition leader, who faced severe criticism in Senate for presenting wrong figures about the people killed in terror activities since June this year, held a meeting with the parliamentary leaders including opposition leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah, Farooq Sattar, Chaudhry Shujaat, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Abdul Ghafoor Haidri, Aftaf Sherpao and Sheikh Rashid Ahmed.
The minister told that the procedure, agenda and venue for the proposed talks with the militants were being finalized and he would brief the political parties in the next meeting.
Nisar said that the government enjoyed support of all the political parties for the initiative and it wanted to move forward the peace process with sincerity.
Speaking to media after the meeting, Khursheed Shah said that the talks were delayed due to killing of Major General Sanaullah Khan Niazi and suicide attack on Peshawar Church.
He said that during the briefing the parliamentary leaders were told that there were 37 to 57 splinter groups of the Taliban were operating in the country.
