ECP says will hold LB polls in Balochistan on Dec 7

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan announced that local bodies elections would be held in Balochistan on December 7 this year.

Speaking to media persons, ECP secretary Ishtiak Ahmed Khan mentioned difficulties in holding polls in Sindh and Punjab and said the electoral body would seek the Supreme Court’s guidance in this regard.

He said that the practice of conducting LB polls was three fold bigger than that of general election. He said that 200 million ballot papers were required to hold general election while 600 million ballot papers were needed to conduct local bodies election.

Khan said that four-month time was required for the printing of ballot papers. He said that Punjab and Sindh had announced to complete delimitations till November 7 and 13 respectively.

He said that the ECP would announce the schedule for the election in Punjab and Sindh after receiving the SC directives.

The ECP secretary said that magnetic ink would be used in the local bodies election.
