Ghazi murder case: Court rejects Musharraf's exemption plea
ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad rejected former president (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s exemption plea in Abdul Rasheed Ghazi murder case on medical grounds, Geo News reported on Tuesday.
Additional Session Judge Wajid Ali heard the Abdul Rasheed Ghazi murder case filed by his son Haroon Rasheed on September 2, 2013.
During the hearing, Musharraf’s lawyer presented his medical report in the court according to which the accused was suffering from back pain. The petitioner’s lawyer argued that exemption could not be granted to any accused on the basis of back pain.
Musharraf’s lawyer, then, contended that the court in F-8 was attacked by the terrorists earlier which is why his client has security risks and a letter has also been written to IG Islamabad regarding the security, and requested the court to seek report from him as well.
Responding to this, Judge Wajid Ali stated that Musharraf’s lawyer did not seek security in his letter, instead he had suggested that the IG Islamabad should inform the court about its inappropriate security. He further said that he Musharraf’s lawyer should have requested for his client’s security.
Later, the court rejected the exemption plea and ordered Musharraf to appear before the court on November 8.
