PTI accepts defeat with claims of success

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders accepted defeat in the NA-122 constituency of Lahore with some reservations and termed the small margin of PML-N’s win as their success.

They said the PML-N had won the Lahore NA by-polls by the massive use of state machinery.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Jehangir Tareen said the PML-N won only one of the three seats where the by-elections were held. He said the PTI would sweep the next elections in Lahore.

Aleem Khan, the PTI candidate, said the PML-N leaders claimed that their candidate would win by a margin of 47,000 votes. He said he brought down this margin to a mere 3,000 and when Imran Khan would contest the next elections from here, he would certainly win. He said he could have won this seat had the PML-N not inserted fake votes in the voters’ lists. He said he had removed two pillars of the so-called Takht-e-Lahore and the other two pillars would be removed in the next elections.

Chaudhary Sarwar said the PTI had, in fact, won the elections. He said those who said that there was no rigging in the 2013 elections should think over the fact that the party chief had lost by 10,000 votes while Aleem Khan lost by merely 3,000 votes.—Published in The News
