PM reviews security, lauds visible improvement in Karachi, Balochistan

ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting at the PM House on Friday and reviewed the internal security situation of Pakistan.

Minister for Interior Affairs Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Asim Saleem Bajwa and other civil and military officials also attended the meeting.

The prime minister appreciated Zarb-e-Azb military operation and other actions of the security forces in which large number of terrorists were killed and arrested. Asa result of these operations, the law and order situation has improved a lot, he said, and particularly mentioned the visible improvement of security in Karachi city, Balochistan province and Tribal Areas

He said that it was due to the firm commitment of the leadership,sacrifices of the security forces and cooperation of the people at large. On the occasion, the interior minister and the military officials also briefed the prime minister about the latest security situation. In a statement issued here, the prime minister said that Rs 341 billion farmers’ package would benefit farmers, especially the small farmer. He welcomed the restoration of the farmers’ package by the Islamabad High Court.

Nawaz said that the farmers would get subsidized loans for agriculture, increased compensation to rice and cotton growers and increase of per index value unit of the land from Rs 2000 to Rs 4000.He reiterated that the package was for the farmers and would be implemented without any political or regional bias.
