PTI challenges delimitation of constituencies
Online

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has challenged in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) the delimitation of constituencies ahead of upcoming local government (LG) elections in Islamabad.

PTI Additional Central Organizer Saifur Rehman took the plea that the delimitation should be worked out according to the population but the government has done otherwise to benefit the ruling party. The petitioner prayed the court to issue orders for fresh delimitation of constituencies. The Election Commission of Pakistan, the Islamabad administration and others have been made respondents in the petition. The Registrar office, however, raised objection on the petition as it did not contain an authority letter from PTI chief Imran Khan. While talking to newspersons outside the court, PTI leader Asad Umarhas said the delimitations have been made not on the basis of population but at the behest of the government to benefit the ruling party.
