Nawaz-Obama meeting to focus on Indian interference in Pakistan
WASHINGTON: Indian interference in Pakistan will be the focus of an upcoming meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and US President Barak Obama on Thursday (October 22).
Speaking to Geo News, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry said Pakistan would inform the US about its concerns over India’s cross-border intrusion. He said Pakistan had expressed its desire to have peaceful relations with India but the latter failed to come up with a positive response.
Aizaz Chaudhry added Pakistan wished to build relations with all the countries including the US on the basis of mutual respect.
US wants India and Pakistan to sit together: Jilani
Pakistani Ambassador to the US, Jalil Abbas Jilani in his interaction with Geo News said Pakistan and US share complete harmony of views over India.
He said the US wants Islamabad and New Delhi to come to the dialogue table. It also wants the existing tension between the two nations to ease, he added.
No compromise on national security: Aziz
Pakistan’s National Security Advisor, Sartaj Aziz said Pakistan has been maintaining the stock of its nuclear arms at a minimum deterrence level against its conventional enemy and ruled out any compromise on national security.
“Pakistan’s nuclear facilities exist due to the hazards posed by the neighbouring country,” Sartaj Aziz said while talking exclusively to Geo News.
He said Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state and its nuclear arms in the context of the neighbouring country (India) will not come under discussion with the US.
Sartaj Aziz said Pakistan and US are on the same page on Afghanistan. He said matters pertaining to Afghanistan hold great significance for Pakistan and noted that situation has once again started to deteriorate in Kabul.
He said the aim of Prime Minister’s current tour to the US is to promote ties with Washington.Courtesy www.thenews.com.pk
