Pakistan conducive for investment, seeks good ties with neighbours: Nawaz

WASHINGTON: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said Pakistan, which has emerged as an attractive and thriving market for business and investment opportunities, seeks good relations with all neighbours and greater regional connectivity.

Addressing business forum organised by US-Pakistan Business Council here on Wednesday, he said Pakistan has greatly improved its internal security situation as well as achieved effective governance and public service delivery resulting in robust economy.

PM Sharif, who is currently on a four-day official visit in the US, said: “We have made a strategic choice to take on terrorists of all hues and colours through a comprehensive strategy involving stringent law enforcement measures as well as targeted military operation.”

The premier said Pakistan tax revenues have increased by 33 per cent, adding that his government was doing its best to overcome energy shortage.

Nawaz Sharif said the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a promising project and along with other energy and connectivity projects like TAPI and CASA will make the country prosperous.

He said the United States remains the most important economic partner of Pakistan. He urged the US companies to invest in Pakistan besides stressing the need for greater market access in the US for Pakistani products.

Addressing the US-Pakistan Business Council, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Jalil Abbas Jilani said environment was conducive for investment in Pakistan.

He said PM Nawaz Sharif's vision of peace and economic development was yielding positive results.

The ambassador said the Business Council will help promote bilateral and trade relations. He said next year’s session of the council was likely to be held in Pakistan.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Prime Minister's Advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson also attended the forum– Radio Pakistan/Geo
