UN chief slams terrorist attacks in Pakistan on religious holiday

UNITED NATIONS: United Nations Secretary General, Ban Ki moon condemned Friday’s bombing of a religious procession marking Ashura in Jacobabad and the recent terrorist attacks in the provinces of Balochistan and Sindh.

The Secretary General reiterated that nothing justifies terrorism, a statement issued by his spokesperson in New York said.

Ban Ki Moon urged the government of Pakistan to take all necessary measures to bring to justice the perpetrators of these despicable acts and to do its utmost to protect its citizens including all minorities.

Noting that the attacks were carried out during the holy month of Muharram and reportedly left over 23 dead including children, the Secretary General extended his condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a swift recovery. (APP)
