COAS directs to carry out immediate rescue work in quake-hit areas
RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif on Monday directed the army troops to carry out immediate rescue work in any earthquake affected areas without waiting for formal orders.
According to Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR), the COAS, in a snap conference, directed Army teams for quick assessment of earthquake damages across the country, specially, the remote areas.
Rescue teams have left to the affected areas while all Combimed Military Hospitals (CMHs) have been put on high alert. Specialized equipment and rescue machinery has been put on standby and army helicopters have been mobilized.
Later, the COAS flew to some affected areas where he was briefed about the damage and the army's response so far.
General Sharif directed all army troops to go to the remotest areas to ensure relief of every affected family, individual, extend max help.
